Propagation of Prunus domestica by cuttings is the primary method for producing own-rooted planting material, the efficiency of which depends directly on the biological characteristics of the cultivar. The process requires strict adherence to the timing of active shoot growth and the maintenance of…
In the reference 16 varieties crop European plum, where this is mentioned in the description.
The rhizogenic capacity of plum varies significantly depending on varietal characteristics. Cultivars such as Alenushka, Vengerka moskovskaya, Evraziya 21, Pamyat Timiryazeva, and Skorospelka krasnaya possess high rooting ability, whereas this indicator is significantly lower for the Renklod kolkhozny and Skoroplodnaya cultivars.
The optimal period for harvesting softwood cuttings in the temperate zone falls between the second half of June and the first decade of July. The readiness of the shoot is determined by the onset of lignification and the reddening of the base. For successful rooting, stimulation with auxin-type growth regulators is mandatory, as well as the use of mist irrigation systems with a maintained temperature of 25–28°C.
