When container-grown, varieties with purple and golden foliage require maximum light exposure to maintain their varietal color; in the event of light deficiency, the foliage turns green and the crown becomes loose. The use of dwarf forms allows for the effective maintenance of the desired ornamental shape of the plant through regular pruning.
